Today the oil company gang is at again pressing Congress once again to give them the green light to go into the Artic National Wildlife Refuge to drill for oil, claiming falsely this will be American energy for good jobs. This clique really goes a long way in proving Ralph Waldo Emerson's quotation about, "A foolish consistency is a silly hobgoblin of small minds," and rest assured they have minds small enough that they could swallow that hobgoblin whole.

To get real on this, little dent in this country's energy dependence will be made by this rip off/con job by the old oil company gang, but actually these "good old boys" will line their old pockets just fine.

But for those who are more concerned with reality and the truth than oil company and neo con fiction and propaganda, the best course of action would be to stop this outrageous affront to American decency in its tracks, and now would be a damn good time to do just that. People can start right away by contacting their Congresspersons and senators to let them know that they need to rein in the "good old boys" in those oil companies and see if they can't get them to think outside their very small neo con oriented boxes.

A little tough love is long overdue for these "good old boys" in these oil companies!

"Now is the time," as Martin Luther King Jr would say, were he alive today, to stand with our sisters denied reproductive freedom by Target, Walgreen, and Winn Dixie, because these women have a right to contraceptive pills their doctors have written them prescriptions for, and no man or woman who deprives these women of this right based on that pharmecist or other employee's "moral" values, should even claim to be ethical at all, let alone in some way or another doing the will of God. Furthermore, women under a certain shouldn't have to get parental consent, because in many cases these women end up getting the hell beat out of them by their Protestant evangelical, "Christian" parents who often are absolute religious nut cases.

These women have had to wait too long for justice, and as Justice Learned Hand once said, "Jusitce delayed is justice denied." Stand with these women in their fight for reproductive freedom and stand for democracy for all. Send a message loud and clear by letters or other contacts with those running these businesses that time has come to stop treating half this country's population like second class citizens. Let's do it! Democracy is too important to be left only for men and to men.

Today a piece of legislation called HR 676 which claims to be for single payer health care legislation will be doomed to failure, as it allows for a 15 year phase in, use of health insurance companies to sub-contract to take care of reimbursing for the plan, provides that those who have been involved in keeping the rip off/con job health insurance companies going would, if they lost their jobs, get preference in training and hiring to others earning an honest living.

With a 15 year phase in of this legislation, that would give the health insurance company rip off/con artists more than ample to organize overwhelmingly and raise enough tons of money to bury this program in a pile of confusion created by TV and other ads paid for by the same tons of money. With no such delay, W's predecessor couldn't get through health care legislation in 1993 and 1994 even with a solidly Democratic Congress. This is just handing the neo con swine way too much of an advantage which will surely be way more than enough to doom this legislation. The rule seems to be when liberal or progressive legislation is successful and stays in effect for the long term, it has to go in effect pronto to immediately begin garnering solid and essential constituency support. This was true with Social Security in under Franklin D Roosevelt, with Medicare under Lyndon B Johnson, and the Wagner Act under FDR, which gave unions the ability to organize and bargain collectively for employees. In all these cases and probably the great majority of other liberal or progressive legislation, the legislation went into effect immediately giving the legislation a ready made base of constituency support. This can be absolutely crucial.

Then letting the health insurance companies sub-contract for reimbursing for the plan is just putting the fox in charge of chicken coup. This gang of jack asses are the ones who created the current damn mess this country's in on health care and have profited immensely from it. It really doesn't make any sense to invite the Trojan horse gang in to sabotage, as they surely would, this well meaning, and what could be a very good program.

Finally, by giving special preference for those now on the payrolls of the health insurance companies for those who lose their jobs in the transition to a universal health care system, is just rewarding those who aren't part of the solution but are part of the problem. Others who have to earn an honest living, rather leeching off others, shouldn't be up against this kind of BS. If some lose their jobs with the health insurance companies when the country moves to a comprehensive health care system, then they, should have available to them the same as others, a full fledged social safety net.

Still it's hard to believe that such intelligent Congresspersons as Dennis Kucinich and John Conyers would allow their names on such legislation, as they have both been all out for real comprehensive health coverage for all in this country, but maybe the gang under the control of the health insurance companies right now has the votes to stop them from getting a real universal health care program through Congress and these progressives have just become completely discouraged to the point that they have just lost a lot of the hope they would otherwise have held for this program, but with this Congress, that shouldn't be at all surprising. However, it's important to replace enough of these prostititutes for the health insurance industry to insure real comprehensive health care legislation which Conyers and Kucinich really want is passed and goes in effect immediately to provide it with the overwhelming base of support it needs and deserves. Liberals and progressives such as Conyers and Kucinich need to keep in mind the spirit of the words of Martin Luther King Jr when he was talking about the completely segregated lunch counters and other public accommodations in Birmingham in 1963 and in referring to white "moderates" who urged "caution and for waiting," he said, "This word wait has always meant never. . ." What the hell else would a 15 year phase in which today's overwhelmingly white "moderates" are urging mean or than just that-- never? Let's stand with Dr King, and we definitely we won't go wrong. Archimedes said, "Give me a place to stand, and I will move the Earth." This is the spirit we must be called to today in this fight for making health for all Americans a right. This is the spirit which probably all other industrialized countries have moved as they adopted comprehensive health care for their people.

The time has come to do today in this country nationally to US airlines what good black people did to the racist, segregated Montgomery AL local transit system in 1955, as the US airlines are knuckling under to W's phony administration in his phony war on terror by going along with this administration's absolutely stupid, silly double jeopardy security screening at airports, which means passengers must go through screening when getting to the airport and then go through it again at the gate where those folks will catching their flights. The American people have suffered enough in giving up their rights to this neo con administration.

The facts are, as George Seldes used to say, the London bomb plot almost surely was a fraud perpetrated on both the British and American people, based on overwhelming evidence which the US mainstream press won't make available to those in the USA. Those in the UK seem to be getting better informed of the con job Tony Blair's government has been attempting to put over on the British people. Craig Murray, who has top security clearances in the UK and otherwise solid experience with dealing with intelligence has shown abundant evidence that the "bomb plot" was a plot alright, but one by W and Blair, his British poodle to BS both the British and American people for domestic political reasons for both who are now in political deep do do as W's dad would put it. I say boycott the hell out of US airlines until they stop putting up with these "security rip off policies" which victimize the American people with a security check upon getting to the airport, then another check at the departure gate, then force the throwing out of all sun screen, shampoo, baby oil, and who knows what the hell else including some serious talk about ending all carry on baggage to bow down to these "false gods," frauds, liars, phonies, and war criminals, which is what their violation of the Geneva and Hague Conventions makes both of them. Black people in Montgomery AL stood up and won, and I say why the hell can't the American people have as much backbone to stand up to the knuckle under airlines and by doing so stand up to the worst US political fraud in history, at least of all those who ever made it to the White House. We owe ourselves, our children, all future American generations, and our honor that much.

Let's say it loud and proud in the spirit of Franklin D Roosevelt, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself."

Surely exceptions will be needed for folks who absolutely can only get to where they have to do business to make a living for themselves by flying as well as in certain other urgent circumstances which will come into play with some people, but the rule ought to be boycott these airlines, using train, private motor vehicle, the interstate bus, or whatever other means of transportation is available to avoid subsidizing those who have become accomplices in this adminstration and the Blair government rip off/con job "terrorists are going to get you" paranoia and BS scare mongering.
